About Cory
Cory Shane Davis is a pianist and conductor originally from Pittsburgh, PA. He has been music directing since the beginning of 2010. He has spent most of his career performing and directing in the Youngstown area, where he studied music. In 2014, Cory proudly received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in Theatre from The Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University. At Dana, he studied voice under Head of Vocal Studies, Dr. Misook Yun. While studying voice, he was also the only undergraduate student in his duration at the university to be invited and permitted to study conducting with the head of Bands and Conducting at YSU, renowned conductor Dr. Stephen Gage. |
Cory truly discovered his passion for music direction while under the mentorship of former Broadway performer, Nancy Andersen Wolfgang. It was through her that he was able to become the first Student Music Director in recent YSU-Mainstage history. It was also with her guidance that he decided to pursue Music Direction as a major and career.
In 2014, Cory was accepted and offered a fellowship to attend Shenandoah Conservatory in pursuit of a Masters Degree in Musical Theatre Conducting.
